How to Use HARO to Grow Your Private Practice Website
Hey there! I know you are looking for all the ways to maximize the traffic to your website. Let’s be honest, we all want to rank on page one of Google! Have you heard of HARO? Read on for a way to use it to increase your Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
HARO’s full name is Help a Reporter Out and it’s a great way to get your name out into the web and get links to your website. It may not have been anything you thought about but it’s worth exploring because the benefits are tremendous. So how does it work?
You can access HARO through the Connectivity app. Here you can register for free as a content expert in your niche field. Through HARO you can see stories journalists are working on and what kinds of expert quotes they are seeking. After finding a match between your expertise and a journalist’s request you send out a specific targeted query with a quote. If an article adopts your quote and information they will often backlink to your website.
How Do You Do This?
On HARO you can sort article requests by topic and by date. Timeliness and appropriateness of your expertise to the inquiry is critical. You’ll be able to see what journal or publication is requesting information so you can make sure you are reaching an appropriate audience.
Be sure that your words match the target so you will be more likely to get a positive response. The requests from writers are sent out three times a day at 5:35 a.m., 12:35 p.m., and 5:35 p.m., EST. If you see something appropriate, respond quickly with a possible quote. It is suggested that your quote be publication ready, and be no more than 300 words. Better yet, keep the quote under 180 so that it can be easily inserted into a piece with little to no effort. Provide a brief bio, ways to contact you, and links to your website.
One of the things I love about using HARO is the SEO boost it provides. Backlinks provided show search engines your site is a valuable resource, which helps improve search rankings.
